I recently went to Tuscaloosa, AL; my hometown. While I was there I visited countless Antique shops. My mom has a real love for antiques and vintage finds. I really enjoy spending this time with her and giving her my interpretation on how to mix the old with the new. I was very excited with my personal finds. So excited in fact, that I had to rent a u-haul! I could not pass up a good deal!
The antique shops were precious. Most were behind people's homes in metal buildings. At one place in particular, I got an antique milk can, three beautiful pieces of crystal (that I have now utilized as candy dishes), a brass and mirror tray, an old scale, and a large mirror. Like I said, I can't pass up a good deal. However, the u-haul came into play when I found the perfect light fixtures for my home. When we built our home (in August) we went with the basic, level 1 light package. I knew I wanted to personalize and make each space unique, yet still have a flow. While in Alabama I found THREE light fixtures! I was so excited. The price point made the rental of the u-haul worth it. My daughter now has a gorgeous chandelier in her sweet little room. Our kitchen table has quiet the stunning centerpiece and our foyer received the perfect upgrade. LIGHTING makes a HUGE difference. Huge! So, since we had a u-haul, I kept on shopping (sorry Will). My mom has befriended this really neat older woman named, Mrs. Ellen, and she has a store-front with a ton of great pieces. There I found two antique chairs ($20) that just needed a good sanding and re-staining. My sweet mom also had been holding onto a church pew for me. I am going to tackle it soon. Reading all of these items might lead you to believe my style is old, antique, and vintage. You would be partially right. However, I love modern and funky. My favorite design style is to mix old with new, traditional with modern, funky with chic. As long as your home represents the people who live in it, it is perfect. Love, Johnna

With my love of design and decor constantly making an appearance I knew it was time to make it official. I have helped countless people stage and redesign their homes. When staging, I love getting homes "model-home" ready. I know it can be hard to turn your "home" into a house that will be walked thru and picked a part. However, focusing on the outcome and the new beginnings makes it worth it. Once your home is de-personalized, it makes it easier to separate yourself too. With redesign, I will come in, find out YOUR style and hopes for the space then come up with a plan. This is such a fun process. While people usually know what they like, they often do not know how to get there. This is what I enjoy, the process and end result.
I am very excited to make this chapter of my life official and partner with Amazing Realty. I reached out to Jennifer Welch when I knew I was planning on taking the next step as I knew she had a deep knowledge of the industry and owns a staging company as well. She welcomed me with open arms and gave me great advice that one could only dream of. Partnering with her was a no-brainer. While, I am partnering with Amazing Realty, I am working with everyone. I would greatly appreciate your business and would love to chat! Sincerely, Johnna |
